Ecosystem creation

We will define a portfolio of thematic areas, translational activities, and strategic partnerships with academia, business and government and associated impact metrics. This will broaden and consolidate the network both nationally and internationally. It will also help us identify course adjustments to national policy (such as industrial strategy and the UK AI strategy).

Research and innovation programmes

We will deliver consortia-led STEM, socio-technical and creative practice research that addresses fundamental challenges with multi-disciplinary and industrial perspectives. These integrative research projects will link established research teams across the community, and early stage and industry-led research and innovation projects. In doing so, we will help expand the UK’s ecosystem and develop the next generation of leaders.

Skills programme

We will translate our research into skills frameworks and training for users, customers, and developers of AI. We will also contribute to the call for the UK AI Strategy’s Online Academy.

Public and policy engagement

We will work with the network of policy makers, regulators, and key stakeholders to respond to arising concerns, and a need for new standards. We will also build capacity for public accountability and provide evidence-based advice to the public and policymakers.
